Tewegan Transition House is a 12 bed transitional home for young First Nation, Inuit and Métis women (between the ages of 16 to 29) that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Tewegan offers: √ A safe, cultured-based environment; √ Confidential and supportive counseling; √ Information, advocacy and referrals that will assist young women to permanent stable housing; √ An environment in which young women feel safe to reclaim pride and respect in their culture; √ An opportunity for young women to learn about culture and celebrate their traditions; √ Community Referrals. Current Programs and Services: √ 24 hour support and crisis counseling √ Community referrals (counseling, heath care, education, employment) √ Transitional Support ( housing applications, court/probation accompaniment √ Life skills workshops (e.g. budgeting, meal preparation, boundaries, communication skills, healthy sexuality, parenting skills) √ Traditional Teachings √ Crafts √ Recreational activities |
